New EU Flag

It is well known that the EU is short of cash. Various EU countries are struggling and noone seems to have quite pulled the financial rabbit from the hat that will solve the various debt issues. I think the EU flag needs redesigning. I know some people feel this would be a suitable new design for the EU flag…

I can see the advantages, as essentially Germany are one a the few solvent countries left and seem to be prepared to keep the EU dream going despite the other economies letting the eurozone down.

I however favour the following which I think encompasses and celebrates the probable way the EU will geet through its present difficulties…

xīn nián kuài lè (新年快乐) to every bureaucrat and politician on the EU gravy train

*Edit : for another very accurate rendering of the EU flag I have to recommend http://anatheimp.blogspot.com/2011/12/majority-is-always-wrong.html

The Grauniad

Have worked out how the Guardian can be so much up its own arse. It is actually like a Klein bottle which has no inside or outside.

There are so many sordid parts of the UK media. In my opinion that would be the Murdoch press, obviously the Daily Mail. Easy targets but one I particularly hate is the Grauniad. (http://www.guardian.co.uk I have given the link as everyone is free to make up their own mind, I know some of the opinions in it drive people almost orgasmic with joy and agreement).

It is not because generally the sordid rag has a different political view to me (although I notice those with alternative political views hate other papers solely for this reason). In fact I prefer The Independant despite the time it takes to download any article on a slow connection speed.

Anyway amongst my many things I have against it are…

1) The exceedingly poor taste 9/11 coverage that friends of mine at the time found truly offensive

2) Hypocrisy, I (in common with the Guardian opinion writers) could not see how banks could pay bonuses to their CEOs while making a loss. Likewise I cannot see how when the Guardian Media Group made a  £171,000,000 loss they paid thier CEO a £143,000 bonus.

3) As if Wastebook isnt evil enough I now accidently click on links to Guardian articles then on my wall everyone in the world can see I am reading the Guardian. I then have to disinfect myself.

Jim Moriarty v Keyser Söze (contains spoilers)

Jim Moriarty (Sherlock) v Keyser Söze (The Usual Suspects)

“You’d be a worth advesary,” said Keyser once to Jim
“But your chance of winning now seem rather slim

You worked in the underworld in a manner quite aloof
But alas your brains appear to be scattered on a roof.”

The result : Keyser Söze is the winner unless somehow Jim Moriarty has somehow miraculousy escaped death in “The Reichenbach Fall”.

Updates!

Exciting News have updated the “About Me” page and also “The Main Point” page. This is as exciting as having the ability to scan stuff in again…

Anyway this year I am going to have the following 3 new year resolutions…

1) Draw the chinese zodiac signs all dressed as dragons (apart from the dragon who already looks a bit dragonish)

2) Draw duels with rupert the bear style rhyming couplets

3) Redesign flags of the world (this might prove to be controversial as some people really love their nations flags. I personally find nearly every flag boring as it is normally a collection of crosses or rectangles.)

Year of the Dragon

Chinese New Year is fast approaching. I did wonder what year of the dragon was all about, I wondered if every 12 years China is visited by a plague of fire breathing lizards. This morning I think my suspicions were proved to be true when I woke up to find this at the end of my bed…

This dragon is about 6 inches long. It eats mosquitos and other small insects, can be trained to breathe fire on request and hence makes the perfect pet for smokers who live in tropical places.

Hybrid… The Trane

Having relocated to China I had to endure that abuse of human rights, plane travel. I travelled to Gatwick by train which is by far the nicest way to travel. It was at that point I realised that a hybrid train and plane (a trane) would be a perfect way to cross continents.

Tommy, Fanny and Annabel off on an intercontinental adventure

What is interesting is the way in China they have managed to make train travel a bit more like plane travel, stations seem just a little bit like airports… maybe they will eventually create the plain (train travel with all the misery of air travel).

Missing Posts… December

Due to scanner issues some posts are missing but now I can resinstate the missing posts. To start with here is my impression of what the first Christmas would have been like if the mobile phone had been invented over 2000 years ago…

The shepherds could not get a decent reception (they were with China Mobile and the reception was not good in this area)
The angel sent a bluetooth message to the shepherds "DNBA - you have GTG to Bethlehem to a stable where the reception is better, and if not the Inn has free wi-fi"

The Pander

As the tiger and the giant panda are both endangered I wondered if breeding them with each other might create an animal less prone to extinction. Of course the plan backfires if the creature only eats bamboo, is totally frigid but has a penis useful for chinese medicine…

lock up your bamboo, the pander is on the prowl...

The Small Bewildered Celestial Being of Zhujiajiao

When faced with a menu like the following one, it is hard to resist half a kilo of celestial being even if it is a bewildered one…

For those who are curious as to what half a kilo of little bewildered celestial being looks like…

You would be bewildered of you suddenly found you were not in paradise but instead in a small water town in the suburbs of Shanghai

Online and back functioning again…

Due to relocating my world east by a few thousand miles I have been without scanner and often without the internet (China telecom have given me ultra fast and ultra inconsistent internet).

Anyway to celebrate the incoming influx of hybrids, sonnets and general rubbish here is the latest addition to the Somerset room (who will be joining Sally and Merlin). Although he is called Patrick I realise now he somehow reminds me of one of my new colleagues…
